"capital" of the western isles (Lord of the Isles) ,complex geology makes for
a diverse and interesting landscape.Richest birdlife in the Hebrides with over
180 recorded species including the rare elusive chough.Otters can be seen on the
shores of Loch Indaal and a seal colony is in residence at Portnahaven. Islay
is well known for it's whisky with 8 distilleries on the island. Visit Port Askaig
for the Jura Ferry - have a drink or two overlooking the Sound of Islay. Other
